On my 8v Kjet mk2 golf the light flashes.
I've bridged the level sensor, restarted the engine and it still flashes.
Disconnected the temp senders the one on the end of the head, on the water outlet for the guage and even the other one on the outlet and I don't even know what that does.
I knew about relay 43 in early cars so I pulled that out and the light still flashes.
I'm thinking its a guage issue. Which I really don't want it to be.
Cheers,
Stu

Ive been through the mill with this fault and finally found relay 43 to be at fault.
Does it flash constantly or does it come on randomly?
It looks like you've tried every thing so think that only leaves the cluster at fault or a wiring problem.
Changing the clocks is not as daunting as you may think, had my old one out and the new one in around an hour or so, and im a novice. The hardest part was getting my stereo out!
Good luck I know how annoying and frustrating this problem can be.

removing the 43 relay completly disables the level warning system so if it still flashes without it its sensor, gauge or wiring.
red/yel wire sensor is for the gauge, if it still flashes with this off then its the cluster at fault i recon :(
other plug on front housing is the thermoswitch for the 5th injector :)
