Title: Stock Mk4 gti Rims onto a late 16v Mk3
Post by: tallpaulr on 03 June 2009, 06:26
I know this sounds really dumb but i've got hold of some rims off of ebay, but i'm not sure if they're gonna fit over my calipers. Looking at the pictures of the new wheels (i've not collected them yet) the outer edge looks a lot fatter than the standards I'm running now so I'm concerned it's gonna foul up and not fit. I don't fancy a 2 hour trip for nothin so I was wondering if anyone could help. The wheels i've bought are are off a '99 Gti, 15" plain flat 5 spoke, Code 1JO 601 025B if that helps.

Yes, they'll fit.

May have to change the tyres though. Not sure about that with 15's, I have the later mk4 16's on mine, but have to run 205/45/16's.

As above, yes will fit but the tyres will be the wrong size.

Yeah they're the ones. They haven't any tyres so I'll be swapping mine over to them, that is of course if they'll fit over the brakes.

They should fit all ok, if not just run a 3mm spacer on the front.
