Title: Wierd brake problem
Post by: petrolh34d on 01 June 2009, 13:42
Hey all

The brakes on my 87 Gti 16v got really bad recently, so we changed the master cylinder, and there was no joy.

Then we changed the servo, and still no joy.

We closed of the pipes to the rear calipers, and then there was great brake pressure, so I changed the rear calipers, but there is still no joy.

The pedal is really spongey, and when you pump it the brakes get a wee bit better, but are still really bad.

Any suggestions please?

i would look at the Bais valve on the rear suspension

it will either be siezed up / rod snapped or leaking

I had this problem last year and it turned out to be the bias valve, you can pick em up from eurocarparts or gsf, should sort your problem out.
