Hi Guys,
First post so hello to everyone
I have a question regarding my car. It's a "07" plate and I've owned it from new with no problems at all, until the last few days when We've noticed a strong smell of fuel when you switch the engine off. This only lasts for about 20-30secs but it is very strong! Anyone experienced anything similar?
Any advice will be welcomed, I'm about to take it to the garage, I can already see the pound signs flashing in the dealer's eyes!

still under warranty so wouldnt worry about anything really, never experienced what you have tho so cant help
hello and welcome

I had this problem with mine about a year ago. Smelt very dangerous!!!
Took it to the dealer but they couldnt find anything wrong with it. Happend on 2 seperate occasions after that, but couldnt manage to get to the bottom of it.
I know that there was recall of some R32's over in the states due to a problem with the fuel or something along those lines (was quite a while ago so the exact explanantion escapes me).
Stopped after that and hasnt happened since..

Past 2 weeks for me too, mostly when I switch mine off! even the girlfriends noticed it and she don't notice anything
What R32 said, there were a few links in the past about this!

I had quite a strong smell in the car too... ended up calling out VW roadside assistance in the end. The gent was very helpful and a former VW engineer, but could find no fault codes.
So dont expect to VW to do too much about it... all logic goes out of the window unless its a fault code.
I found the smell to be strongest near the front of the engine bay on the passenger side, which happens to be the opposite side to the fuel lines etc. :embarassed:
On the bright side it didnt happen again

Get it checked out asap

My leak was the fuel filter, a missfit or sumin, they wasn't really specific!
Anyway MPG has shot rite up from struggling to get into the 30's, to hiting the 40! and it goes so much better!!
makes me wonder how long its been leaking as since I've owned it, it's never been this smooth. :nerd:
