Title: comments, concerns and considerations on some body changes please....
Post by: No Golf Clubs at all on 01 June 2009, 10:08
Righty ho....

I am thinking about offing the Milly quads, I love the performance, I dont like the aftermarket look.

Would love to go milly twin, or even back to stock, however I also would need to get the rear valance replaced and painted as well (since I have the ABT rear valance on just now).

Or, does anyone think I could keep the abt and successfully get the second cut out filled?

Seems like a big expense for something cosmetic...but....

Any supporting thoughts?

Reckon I could sell my abt and quads? dont know when they were fitted, they've done 10k since I got the car March 2008.

Whilst I am at it I would also like to change the ABT sides for Standard/ R32 or Ed30's.  Again more cosmetic than function, but really would love to get away from the Aftermarket look.

I'd go back to the GTI and colour code with either a Milltek or a blueflame exhaust.

I Quite like dual exhausts, so I'd also vote for keeping it as it is and spend the money elsewhere on the car

I'm not sure what the ABT rear looks like, but could you not do it this way:

1) cut the bumper
2) get 1 metre of rubber hose
3) cut a slit down the length of the hose
4) fit hose around cutout in bumper
5) use remaining hose for the other side.

I've seen it done on MK4 Polos and as long as you keep the rubber fresh and cut it straight, it looks factory.

Edit: just seen the ABT rear and quite like it, if you do sell I'll be interested.

Hurdy, I've already got the four pipes so it's a question of 4 V's 2...... But the 2 is either stock or milly, then I need to fill or replace the rear valance.

I would go back to the standard look. One thing i'm not keen on with the new MK6 gti is the exhaust either side of the body.

I'm with you on that.
Asymmetric double-shooter, that's where it's at. Other configs are all too bling (for GTI, that is).

I concur...BLING...yuk. ETTO etc...however just waiting on an £800 bill for 4th year costs etc...then we'll see what can be done at that end of the car...shame i need a new valence etc, mind you I should get something back for a milly quad and maybe the valence....

Ya would need a milltek quad set to go with it, would you?
