GTI on order, delivery mid-August, but being the incorrigible tweaker that I am, I have already begun thinking about the mods I will want to carry out.
I don't like the factory wheels, be they the standard 17", or the (even more ghastly) 18" optional wheels, so I have already bought a set of Interlagos 18". I am also dubious about the wisdom of red brake calipers on a 210hp hatchback (I'm talking good taste here...), particularly in view of the rough finish VW has given them (see photo below), so am considering repainting them either black or silver when I swap the aforementionned wheels over. What do you think?
I currently have a slight preference for black :)

If you want to repaint then I'd say silver as my preference.
But If It was my choice, I'd leave them red.

silver will look horrible and tacky. gold is where it's at.

Dont see how, it will match the alloy colour.

I will see what they look like in red when the car is delivered (I haven't yet seen the GTI in person), but from the photos I've seen, they look as if they've been painted using a £9.99 kit from Halfords à la BarryBoy :(

I have ordered my golf with the 18" shadows. I think they do look good, even for 'factory' wheels

I did mine Gold on my Mk4 and they look good against the Santa Monica....
If I had an 09 plate Mk6 GTi though I wouldn't even be thinking of painting the callipers!!
