Title: How to clean red calipers?
Post by: jaydubveedub on 31 May 2009, 15:54
Hi all,

I am new to this forum having just changed my old Passat for a Mk5 GTI (at last!).

Planning to take the monza II's off for an all-round clean and seal (using poorboys wheel seal). What do people recommend for cleaning up the brake calipers? Reluctant to use brake cleaner as it can make the paint go dull and it's very harsh.

I was thinking just some regular wheel cleaner with a smallish brush?

Cheers

I would say either Meg's APC, or i've had great results with Bilberry Wheel Cleaner. Both can be found here:

Cheers,

How about a pressure washer?

Have tried pressure washer but won't get the really stubborn muck off.

I'll try Megs APC - cheers for the tip!

Went for Bilberry in the end. Absolutely fantastic product when diluted 5:1. Recommended!
