Title: low vac on tickover?
Post by: Wazzzer on 31 May 2009, 12:25
as per this topic http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=118132.0, MaxxeH has noticed my vac is a bit low on tickover...

What is everyone's reading on their 1.8T at idle?

well I've just taken it out and it seems to be running -19 on tickover so it doesn't look like it's a problem

You must have a vac leak, what does it boost at?

If it was a vac leak would the pressure not go back towards normal (zero) as opposed to a higher vac reading (increased negative value)?
There's a current thread on zero-ing for boost gauges, don't know if that's any help here?

agreed a vac leak would make the reading higher (closer to zero)

I think your gauge is reading wrong myself
