I recently bought a GTI 8v, on closer inpection i noticed that the sensor and the lid were loose on the brake fliud reservoir.
I re-seated them and a light comes on the dash, i checked vag.com with no errors.
What i noticed;
When the sensor is clipped in fully, i get a light on the dash
When the sensor is not clipped in, i get a light on the dash
When the sensor is resting in but not fullly clipped in, no light on the dash.
Its seems to me to be a points issue with the sensor not seating correctly?
Whats your thoughts???
How can i fix this? Do I just need to clean them, if so? or do i buy a new brake fluid reservoir?

I zip tied my contacts apart, both my vr6 and 8v had the same problem. I wouldnt bother about it.

Strange to ask do you have a pic as i just wondering why have you done that? Surely this is to inform you off the level of the brake fluid??

Is the little cap missing that holds the plunger down?
If so this will be your problem, i found a cap at work and cable tied it down

It is but i just keep a close eye on it and all is good.

No, the cap and plunger are fine. I think its the points on the inside of the sensor housing on the fluid reservoir.

Go down to Audi/VW at Angmering (or Retro VW at Chorley) and pick up new one (Cap that is)
Should cost a few quid :wink:
