Title: Central locking - rear black box
Post by: jmsheahan on 30 May 2009, 15:04
Hi all,

Central locking on my mk2 gti has started to play up today - was working fine this morning. When I lock, the drivers door just locks and the box whirrs constantly. New one needed or is it likely to be a fault elsewhere?

Only thing I've done is fit 16v lights today and painted a little rust in the bootlid

Cheers

you might have knocked off the vacuum pipe off the locking pump in the boot when you were changing the lights.

I had this recently when loading the boot up. Turned out that I'd knocked the pump and one of the air pipes had come loose. Check the pipe coming from the pump, should go to a T type connection in the rear panel.
