Hi everybody,
Thought I'd use the beautiful day to fit a couple of LED strips in my boot so I can actually see in the dark but instead of it being a nice easy job, just for a change, it's not! The courtesy light in the boot doesn't come on when I open the boot. Figured this was because the boot catch had gotten wet when my rear wiper motor was leaking everywhere. I dried it all out when I changed the wiper motor, sprayed some wd40 and didn't think to check if it was working again. Turns out it's still not working so I'm guessing it's the microswitch. I searched (promise Rhyso!) all morning but can't find anyone that managed to mend it. Is it possible or am I gonna have to head to the dealers? Also, whereabouts on my dash does a light come on to show that my boot is open?
Thanks, as always, for help!!
Jo

I can't help with the rest, but if the boot is open, it should say in the multi function screen where you get your mpg etc.

Ok well that's a start I guess. Thank you!
Damn microswitches were the worst thing invented. I thought once I'd done my doors I'd be ok! I spent all morning playing with multimeters and trying to get power to the stupid light. Grr.

Hello mate.
Mine dont work either now  it used to flick on and off if you played with the latch, now its dead! :lipsrsealed:
I think the same thing caused it, leaky rear washer.
I've not heard of anyone fixing the micro switch :undecided: i dont suppose you can even buy a micro switch for it, probably a new latch is needed.
As Ant said it will show on the dash that the boot is open and a chime will sound :afro:
I did see on ebay a few weeks ago a boot latch type thing for about £25-ish (new)
Good luck with fixing it, my way is a tourch in the boot.

Turns out that was the least of my problems. Took my starter motor off to clean it, broke the power/earth?? cable (the one that goes from the motor to the other cylinder) mended it for about 5 minutes then killed it completely! Found a new starter motor and latch at the breakers so should be sorted tomorrow. (fingers crossed) thanks for the help!!
