Title: 3 vs 5 (door)
Post by: buzzkip on 29 May 2009, 21:29
Hi guys,

What's your opinions on 3 door vs 5 door Mk4 Golf' ?

I wouldn't have been bothered before I came here, but I love the look of 3 doors, but are they any better or worse?

Perhaps they are more robust?

Cheers

There is no difference in the chassis, they are both as strong as each other

Now I've had a 5 door I wouldn't go back to a 3 door car. I got mine out of family necessity though

I love the look of the 3 door, but the convienince of the 5 door.

The 5 door worked in my favour last weekend as I managed to get a garden table, 8 garden chairs and two freezer boxes full of meat into the back of my car (along with clothes for the weekend etc...)

I've no kids so a 5 dr make no sense, if people want to get in the back there go through the passenger side

I like my 5 door, do loads of carp fishing so need the easy access. easier with the babe and reduces the wear with people climbing all over the seats.

I wanted a 3 door, but I ended up with a 5 door.

To be honest I'm glad I got the 5 door as it's well convenient, I play guitar so carry bits and pieces round and it doesn't all fit in the boot. Plus I love my camping trips in the sun and again, access to the back seat is so cool.

See, that pictures makes all the sense to me

But thanks everyone, I don't need a 5 door.. it will only be me in the car, but I bet I'll regret it when I have a load of friends to go on a long journey with.

5 doors good for shagging in

but to be honest, it's a mk4 golf, so the sex will be so bad it won't even be worth having.

You could always go for over the bonnet, or kneel her down in the boot with the shelf off and flippin' go for it like mad.

I have no kids (that i know about) but i wanted a 4dr to save people from climbing over the seats to get in and out.

4 dr is more convenient for drive bys and picking up prostitutes too

just bend her in to some kinda shape that will fit nicely with the access to the relevant hole

I like your style. Open to exploration of where ever it fits, even if it takes a while to make it fit

personally prefer the 5 door golfs, 3 doors are a pain in the ass when picking up mates etc, shopping etc. wouldnt ever go back to a 3 door again.

5 door all day long. The way the doors drop on the 3 door cars is ridiculous.

Oh and seeing as we are posting pics:

block of wood and a trolley jack under the door is a temporary fix

long term fix are new hinges

3 doors look sportier but 5 doors look good on some hatchbacks ie the Golf and my MG ZR looked alright in a 5 door. And as someone else said much better for shagging in and if you ferry people about alot.
