Title: air bag faults

long time no posts i know sort of gone off the golf
but mrs has been driving car she got home form work tonite and told me air bag light keeps coming

i went out had a look and when u go to start it it comes up on dash air bag fault and light stays on

i tried to scan with vagcom but it says on 2000 or 2001 if i scan can damage airbags so didnt do it

has any 1 got any ideas thanks

o and i have searched but no 1 has mentioned vagcom displaying this message
