I get my GTI tomorrow!!!!
Firstly, a BIG heads-up to you guys - your help and advice has been invaluable so far :)
Secondly, a thanks to Stourbridge VW. Spencer Hollis has restored my faith in the VW network (after a documented "trial of fire" so far!!)
They couldn't do enough for me :)
So, what did I get?
Well, I wanted either 3 or 5dr. 18" Monzas, leather and some packs. In any colour but silver.
I've ended up with -
MY05 Black 3dr GTI
17" wheels - not bothered really, as the previous owner JUST put on 4 new tyres (2 x PS2 and 2 x Continental)
Cloth interior - after the potential issues with the quality of the VW leather, I opened my mind and tried the cloth. Quite liked it too :)
Now the even better bit - only got 22K on the clock
FVWSH and they've done the cambelt as part of the deal inc 12months TAX.
Standard stereo, but that won't be in long ;) Neither will the speakers ;)
No packs - but I'm looking into retrofitting any way ;)
Now, the deal. Pretty happy. Paid circa £12K (;) ) for it. Including GAP insurance and VW warranty ;) Private plate transfer too :)
Have got some pics, but I'm not going to put em up until tomorrow :)
Dan :)

congrats!bet you cant wait to get those keys! pics expected but ill give you a while as you'll be out driving for a considerable time after you pick it up!
-
Sounds quite over priced to me :undecided:
I would rather have higher miles with more options, you will only wish you had them once you put the miles on!
-
Congrats - I actually thought you already had a GTi for some reason!
-
Forgot to add, the warranty is additional 2yrs VW. Also got armrest and Ipod aux connection (well, it's cost me £8 ;) )
not worried about satnav (MFD2 is rubbish anyway)
Which leaves lux pack and winter pack. Not exactly expensive items to purchase/fit.
Yes, there were cheaper cars that had more miles and a few options, but mine's 1-owner with minimal use. None on the VW website came close to this.

LOL - well, I'm coming from VAG.... got (although not for long) an Audi S4 Avant. :)
It's got the usual stuff etc DIS....hence why I couldn't give two hoots about highline/midline etc.....

Lux pack costs well over £1000 to fit, winter pack will be a fair whack too. RNS510 is about £800 and is very good.
Not trying to rain on your parade but you will want them, later on, i wish i had the rsn510 and lux pack
-
No rain taken mate :)
Actually looking at the Pioneer F900bt, which whilst not oem, is (imho) a better alternative, as I'm not overly keen on the RNS.
Plus new shiny speakers and sub retrofit (a la Hurdy) ;)
I've also got techy contacts within the VW ;) and I'm really keen to get my hands "dirty" :)
Dan :)

Wish I had the RNS510 as well.
Gotta pay off the cards, then save for it!
-
Congrats mate! Bet you can't wait :)
-
Never mind the options, its the engine, the handling and fun factor you are paying for and fortunately it all standard
Well done matey.
-
well done mate, dont listen to all the 'pack' options, you wont care if your a true dubber and you cant miss anything you have never had!
-
you aren't missing much with packs, id rather have a low milage, clean looked after example like the sound of yours and its certainly worth paying a bit more for it if its mint there is a lot of crap out there You can easily upgrade to 18" monzas which is the main thing imo. Enjoy
-
paid a little less for mine with similar in terms of the warranty, cam belt, 2 new tyres, and its cloth not leather, but i got monzaII's, and the headunit, speakers need to be binned :lipsrsealed: they are as bad if not worse than the CTR stuff, and not a patch on my old mk4 that the missus is running around in
I was thinking the Alpine double din stuff tbh but let us know how you go on with the pioneer.
Car will put smiles on your face so go out, heavy right foot and enjoy!!!
-
Congratulations mate!
-
When's the remap booked for!?
-
LOL!!!
Sooner than you think
Seems that the dealer is pretty mod-friendly too ;)
I KNEW there had to be some good VW dealers out there!! ;)

Well theres always someone out there ready to piss on your parade....
I for one am happy for you...enjoy it
-
No worries - no parade, nor p1ss
Everybody's entitled to their say :)
Busying myself this morning with lots of marking, hoping that the time will fly by!!LOL!!
Bought some cleaning stuff (mine had run out yesterday - just as I finished the final wash on the Audi)
Gotta go pick up my Ipod lead from the Posty in a bit too.
The put up a netball hoop for my daughter, put the washing away, vacuum and maybe get in the studio for some sound editing :)

Nice one. I bet your counting the hours down
-
The Pioneer unit is dreadful!!!
I had one for a week and sent it back - takes over a minute to start up every time you start the car!
Look at reviews etc before you buy...
Enjoy the car though
-
Pick mine up saturday as well.
-
Well after a quite frankly agonising morning (learning the true meaning the phrase "patience is a virtue"!!!), I'm now home (also had to pick the kids up from the in-laws) :)
And yes, I'm rather chuffed
Will do some pics tomorrow - bit dark now ;)
However, a turn up for the books - the car's got some optional extras ;)
Lux pack 1
Tyre pressure sensors
Arm rest
Which is nice
And an mpg on the way home of 28.6mpg  (granted, the kids were in the car, so it was a case of "Driving Miss Daisy"
Will show some pics tomorrow
-
Nice one mate, bet your like a cheshire cat
Whats lux pack 1 consist of?
Hopefully be in a similar state myself soon, still hunting...
Sam
-
Hi Sam,
Lux Pack 1 consists of (from what I can tell anyway - no doubt somebody more knowledgeable will confirm/deny!)
Rain Sensors
Auto Lights
Footwell lights
Coming Home lights
Foldable mirrors
Rear reading lights
Somethings I haven't been able to check yet, so it might be Convenience pack 1!
The Pioneer stereo was woeful on Firmware 1.0, but on V2 apparently its boot-up time is about 30 seconds :)
Still not sure about the 700 (CD) or 900(DVD)..... I've got a TomTom so even debating the non-satnav version too...
I'm like a kiddy in a sweet shop!!LOL! :)
And I've just realised that it's 7.20am!!!! I'm blaming the dog for getting up at the crack of dawn!!!! Swine.
Dan

There are 2 lux packs, 1 of them is folding mirrors and little lights under door mirrors and the other also has dimming wing mirrors. From my07 reverse activated kerb view mirror was also added to both lux packs. Rain sensors, auto lights, reading lights are standard

Ha ha, really?! I don't have them on my car and can't say I've missed them! Most of the time I'm happy to listen to the noise the car makes, rather than fiddle with sat nav/music etc...
-
I love the V6 but doesnt mean its all i want to hear on a couple of hours of drive!
