Thanks guys I've driven a MKV gti and R32 but not had a go in a MKIV R32. The MKIV seems to have the .:R factor over the MKV R32 which to me seems to be more executive in it's direction. I'll have to find one to test drive but yeh that V6 sounds the nuts...

mate this is no question?
if you are seen in a mk5 gti, people dont look tiwce, if your seen in a mk4 r32 people will think f**k me theres an r32. I know what

in terms of handling then a MKV will be the better car; however for looks and noise you can't beat the .:R
-
Definatly R32 stick a Miltek on it and listen to that noise.
-
lol @ how everyone in the MK5 section says get the MK5 and everyone in this section says get the MK4 :D :D :D
Id like to this my advice was impartial:
An impossible question for anyone but yourself to answer.
You need to take both of them out for a test drive and decided yourself. I opted for GTI due to running cost (MPG mainly) and I think the GTI looks nicer.

Sounds like you have made your mind up mate!
Just so you you know, although the MK5 R does not feel as raw, its actually a quicker and more capable car. Its very deceptive in its speed though. The MK4 R will feel quicker though and so provide more fun.
The MK4 is cheaper so leaves some money for mods (although you will need around £10k to turbo it)
I prefer the MK5 R noise aswell, its a little quiter at lower speeds but is a deeper note when pushing.

Id settle for any 32
