Title: Accident, GolfGTI Help Needed
Post by: R1-Jay on 13 August 2004, 00:10

Mods, please make sticky for a while.

Tonight, at 10:30pm at the cap in hand roundabout in chessington/hook a red saab 93 convertible drove straight into the mk2 with the mrs driving. He failed to stop and drove off at high speed.

We have reported it to the police and have his numberplate C6JHB. The police say he lives in Dorking, but are not willing to pay him a visit to breathalize him. Any people around the area look out for the car and report it to me if the know its whereabouts or owner

Thanks

Jay

So the narks are not interested any explanation?should be breathalized as a matter of course after an accident anyway even if he drove off,was it the owner driving though or some chav/scally on a joyride.
wont you find out where he lives when claiming off his insurance?
if not i hope you find the fooker and take a large lump hammer to his car and give im one from me too. :o >:(

Isnt leaving the scene a crime?

Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, the police should be treating it as such, if they arent make an official complaint, they'll have their asses hauled up over that.  Contact your insurance company immediately, they need to know so they can begin the chase as well.
How's the car... and more imporantly... how's her neck?  ;)
I'd get the missus checked for whiplash, leaving the scene of an accident where someone has been injured is a serious offence, and the offender could have a whole host of problems coming his way fast... I'd make sure he did, dunno about you!

turned up briefly on the bike, i hear there were sa few there actually, but i was on the red one.

mrs is ok, just a bit shaken, no witness  :'(

not seen the car in daylight yet, but i dont think its too bad, just a dented drivers door and possible sill. i'll look at it later on

if the old bill arent doing anything 9which they should have done!!) i think as dizzie said earlier, a hpi check or similar to give the adress of the car would do for me!!!, like for like and all that if not worse!! im afraid the whole country is going to be in a 'vigilante' state if the law dosnt pick up on things other than speeding tickets/fines, cause peeps aint gonna stand for it!!!..

get his adress and a battering is in order.....

Sorry to hear about you accident mate. I just thought I would say. Regardless of the testing for drink driving which by now wouldnt count. Dont you want the guys insurance details to claim for the damage caused to your car? Plus as he left the scene it is automatically his fault. You can make a nice fat claim, as if the sill hase been hit an insurance company would write the car off based on its age alone (buy it back for peanuts) Just a thought. Good luck with it mate

regards Robin

some sort of good news,  we wasn't going to go down the insurance route as their was no witnesses and i thought it would be seen as a 50/50 with the insurance company, but i've found the chap who was following my missus and he is willing to make a full statement to back us up, so the police will now have to follow this one up!

still wanna find the car tho!!

If your missus is injured then as its a Fail to stop injury accident the Police have the power to arrest the bas%$ !!! ;D ;D
If they don't take it seriously then complain, but first let them know of the injuries.
Make the complaint to their Inspector and if you're not satisfied with the response, then tell them your going to make a complaint to their Proffesional Standards unit.
It's likely that this should do the job. ;)
Hope she's alright and has no more than whiplash. That is an injury. Don't be fobbed off

Check the local Saab main stealers, might have a record of the car? Their bodyshop might even have it in for repairs?

Leaving the scene of the accident is definately a crime, as is crashing into a Golf - punishable by disembowling, in my world anyway ;D.

Hope your other half is OK, any accident is a definate shaker.? Cars can be repaired, loved ones are a little more difficult to replace...
