I have two replacement front doors to fit on my mk3 GTi, any advice on doing this?
Do i have to remove the front wings to get access to the hinges? Or can i remove the pin in the centre of the hinge?
Looks like its going to be a right pain in the backside!

I know the type of door you're on about I'm in the middle of doing up a door to replace my NSF door, they're dead easy to get off and strip down (to replace the locks, if you want).
Basically follow the advice in the thread posted below, but unscrew the two metal hinges from the chassis (not the door, leave the hinges on the door).
IIRC there's only two big hinges that need unscrewing, and the electrics bit which needs turning anti clockwise to undo.
Wind the window down halfway before you take the door off, not only is it easier to then carry the door, but you can access the retaining bolts to then get the window out if you need later.
It is a two man job though, one to hold the door and the other to unscrew, those doors, with glass, are heavy.
Reply here if you want advice on stripping the door down to a shell to get the electrics out. :)

Ah wicked, thanks for all the info..
My main issue is getting access to the hinges bolted onto the A-Pillar, hows it done without removing the wing to get to the bolts?

I've got a door swap to do too and have found this link - basically leave the hinge on the car and remove the door from it. Seems like the best plan to me as you can't get to the bolts t remove the hinge with the door unless the wing is off.

Good luck!
