Title: Supplier recommendations??
Post by: jeynesey on 26 May 2009, 22:09
At the risk of a massive re-post can anyone reccomend a good place to purchase some new springs? Ive been quoted £279 for Eibach pro kit fitted on a 30 mm drop. Ideally im after 40mm. Who did anyone else go through?

Cheers, Nick

A garage down by me, yeah I got Weitec coilovers.
Phone around a few local small garages should be able to get it cheaper

See I was going down the route of a garage that supplies and fits. The quote is from Demon Tweaks, I suppose its not too over the top? How long do you think it would take for fit?

As you can tell Im pretty clueless!

Couple of hours, maybe a bit more if there is any problems (seized bolts etc) Spring kits are around £100 > £120

Thanks for the link, been comparing prices, everywhere seems quite similar. It says lowers "up to 40mm", but there is no option for different sizes? How does that work if they arent adjustable?

That'll look good. IMHO I think lowering 30mm is not enough.

I would go Sportline (-50mm) as my Pro-30's are more like -20's. ;)

Have you changed yours then mate?? If not how bad is it? Also if I go 50 im not realistically going to be able to take people in the back??

You MAY have problems, the only way to tell is to lower it that much.
Or buy coilovers and then you can set the height you want.
When I was looking to buy I didn't think -30mm was enough and wasn't sure if -50mm was to much so I went with collies

I think if im not mistaken the eibach sportline kit is not an even 50mm drop front and back, mike at vw speed informed me that they drop the mk4 golf 50mm front and 30-35mm back. Please somebody correct me if im wrong though?  :nerd:

Most spring kits lower the front more than the back
