Yep that's one of two breather hoses that are prone to splitting as VW decided to make them out of a material that is not particularly resiliant to oil, hence they begin to rot and split after so many years. My lower one is ok but i had a similar problem to you with the upper y-shaped one (it comes out of the top right of the rocker cover as you look at the engine). VW parts are about £30 a pipe! There are some silicone ones on the market now which are better suited to the job and of course look a little better! I know awesome sell them aswell as a company on ebay that sell the "Autobahn 88" silicone boost hoses etc, both around £70 for the pair (cannot buy them individually).

As for turning your 007p round the wrong way, yes i have heard of people doing this but at the end of the day its not a good idea, it is designed to go the same way round as the OEM Bosch unit, but not to worry, it's not my turbo that you'll be replacing...

Thanks for that Waff i will be turning mine round again as you have scared me

Looks like i will be buying aftermarket ones then, finished off my N249 valve + replaced the N112 i broke :( and now just running it in to see what happens.

I still have over 1100rpm when i start the engine from cold is this normal or have i got a problem?

Thanks Lee

Sounds about right mate, the AUM has a secondary air pump system which is on for about a minute when you first start the car. I always wait until its gone off before i drive away. My revs sit at about 1100rpm and then drop to 800rpm when it goes off.

As for the 007p i'm waiting for someone to come and flame me for saying that, but at the end of the day it was designed to go on a particular way, if you reverse it then the piston is being operated in a different config. Yes it will still work but as we all know with cars, if something makes a louder noise it usually means something is wrong lol!

As far as i am aware there is no actual benefit to "reversing" the 007p, just that it makes more noise - if you want the noise install your 007p the correct way and buy a CAI

I dont want it making like really loud dump noise but my factory bosch one made more noise, that probably had a leak tho lol!

I will be turning it around Waffs, ye it does go down after few minutes but wana make sure  :nerd:

As for this leaky pipe i am going to look tonght at the hose to try and find a part number to comfirm what it is called, i would like silicone but i cant actually find the correct one as of yet even tho you all been very helpful!

Thanks All
