Title: Removing Airbag VW Steering Wheel
Post by: ghostwalker808 on 25 May 2009, 22:20
Hi,

I'm thinking about removing my standard Mk3 airbag steering wheel, and replacing with a sports style, Sparco, Issotta style wheel. I'll get a pro to do it, but what I'm wondering is, would this be a problem for insurance companies?

Any advice about this would be appreciated, as it's one of many mods I would like to do.

Thanks

Paul

My advice would be to speak to your insurance company and see what they say. The worst they can say is no - it may also count as a "modification"

Ok, thanks.

Since it's going to be one of many mods, I'm going to switch to a modified specialist when ready.

Not 100% sure but I think airbags are now part of the mot so you may get issues.
