since lowering my golf my drive shaft bolts keep coming loose where they bolt on to the gearbox, the last time it happen the one side came off and smashed a hole it the side of the gearbox, this time i just happened to look and notice the drivers side was loose. how can i stop them coming loose, i made sure i did them tight after changing the gearbox

nope, just u dan

Use loctite or another thread lock this should help mate, you can get these from any motor factors.
-
Good luck with the thread lock considering the amount of cv grease around! I had this problem, but just turned out I didnt tighten them up. :lipsrsealed:

Can't say I've ever heard of this. Are you torque'ing up the bolts properly? The driveshaft bolts shouldn't need threadlock
-
Seen the same thing on a friends durka van, we just locktited em back in though wether they should be or not I dunno, they certainly werent on the ones that were left snapped in the threaded flange. The CV grease is hardly a problem if you actually clean the bolts and threads with carb/brake cleaner or the stuff locktite sells to clean the parts with.

drop the shaft off, put a new gasket on there and clean the mateing surfaces so there free of grease and then torque it down.
if you have no gasket and or grease on the mateing surfaces it will come loose. if gets hot the grease between the faces bugges off and reduces the tension allowing the bolts to move a bit they develop slowly till there loose

have you got the 3 double spacer plates under the bolt heads?
