Title: i want miles to empty

is there anyone around the birmingham or near area .. who can do the "miles to empty".. dont want to dish out £50 for the cable..

or can i do it with the normal £15 VAG cable and download the software  :undecided:

Quite sure you can't have miles to empty unless you upgrade the clocks in your car to a newer set  :undecided:

i have the same S reg AGU and i wouldnt mind miles to empty, i was also told i would need to upgrade my clocks. which ones i aint sure there seems a few different ones about. :undecided:

Some nice immo3 dials would work nicely.  Some Anni dials, Bora sport, or R32 dials always go down well :)

 :huh: my mates got a s reg gti too and hes got miles to empty im sure he never changed his clocks.. but ill ask him  :undecided:

thanks for the link philpy can anyone confirm this is a good but tho as i dont trust ebay that much  :laugh:

and can i perform the normal error code reading reseting and all the general vag stuff with this cable or will i stil need to get the other cable?

Early clocks will be immob 2 - so cant have MTE 2001 > imob 3 is what you need to get MTE

right just spoke to my mate as far as he knows hes got the normal gti clocks... and they look exact same as mine so  :undecided:

why didnt they just put this in all the gti's then of the same year  :angry:

because VW start buiiklding their cars for the next year around June / July time

for example a car built in September 2001 will be classed as a MY02 car and therefore have the same specs as a car built in January 2002.  A car built in February 2001 will be an MY01 car

there is an outside chance that the EEPROM will corrupt and you'll be stuck with a car that doesn't move though i've never heard of it actually happening

you also got to make sure you reprogram the correct part of the EEPROM  :wink:
