Hey all.
just trying to get some advice.
i was on my way home from work tonight, and pulled into a service station (rownams)
to be fair, i wasnt going to easy on the car. i wasnt raging it, but i wasnt going slow
and as i piulled up and got out to fill the car up, i noticed my driverside rear disk was scoulderd a orange colour and there was smoke coming of my callipers.
i nearly went to get some water as i thought it was going to catch fire but after 30 secounds the smoke went.
so i let it cool down and then continued my journy home (slower) i got home and it was no hotter then the disk on the otherside, and the disk had returned to normal, since then i have given it another test drive with braking a bit harder, and all seems ok now.
what do you think it is, and would i need to get it looked at?
btw its a golf mk4 GTI 1.8T
Cheers

could be just all the brake dust that was gathered puffed out lol
best get it checked may have been some brake fluid leaking! and as your brakes where hot caused it to smoke up. has happened to me dads honda accord in the past. best get it checked to be on the safe side

sounds like your rear caliper was binding slightly, di you notice any unusual feal when driving it into the services, just keep a eye on it, might be worth making sure the caliper is nice and free by removing the pads and using a lever bar to slide caliper side to side. this might reveal if your caliper in on the way out.

sounds like a slightly sticking caliper
