Following on from my earlier thread about organising a day it seems two distinct ideas have come to the fore. Both are feasable in theory although one is easier than the other.
Haynes Test Circuit
This would take the form of camping the night before with a BBQ and some sociable fun around a campfire. The following day would be on the test circuit running one at a time for approx 5 laps before letting the next person on. 2 or 3 different layouts can be chosen throughout the day and each entrant should get at least 5 sessions during the day. The costs of this would be approx £52 per car. This is for 20 cars, the less cars the more money it'll cost but the more track time you'll get.
There is also the option to have a small show and shine during the day on sunday for spectators etc to also enjoy. A mini Golfgti.co.uk show as it where.
If we went for this all monies would have to be paid upfront and non returnable, however if youlater on couldn't make it you could sell your spot.
Piggybacking an organised event
This is the easier but more expensive option. Simply picking a trackday taking place in the UK, people book themselves on and turn up on the day and mingle where possible. This will likely costs from £120 - £200 each depedending on where and when.
This option will get you more tracktime per £ but maybe a bit offputting for those who just wanted to have a quick blast without fear of tangling with other cars (Not that this happens too often on trackdays).
Voting
Please only vote in this pole if you are really really interested in this and can afford it. I don't want to have to go through the hassle of setting it all up for people to then turn around and change their minds.

Just to give people an idea of what the two are like :)
Shame the Haynes museum isn't as central

Haynes track is tiny! Been on it.

To give people an idea of what's involved driving/speed on a couple of tracks - these are all same car, same numpty driving:
In car from Haynes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bucP80Bw9TM
In car from Castle Combe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj4Hg70kjFI
In car from Goodwood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNwcFstrtgA
If people want something more sociable I would recommend Haynes, although with only one car on at a time there's a lot of standing around and a *little* pressure on the person driving.
If you want the proper 'driving on a racetrack' experience then Combe or similar would be the way forward. Airfield gigs are OK, but for me, they fall somewhere in the never never between having a really good and very sociable laugh at Sparkford, or really focusing on getting as much track time as possible in and knocking out some great on-the-line laps at Combe.

That Haynes track looks like it would be very hard on the car (tyres/brakes/suspension etc.)

you cant do a warm up lap either :undecided:
regarding tangling with other cars, personally i feel safer from other drivers on a circuit than i do on the public road!
theres always the chance of you going off on your own though

Would be interested but sure there are more than 2 options Nick? there is one the scooby boys use called blyton and they seem to have a good laugh. Rallydrive have tracks of different types all over so might be worth looking into as well :) That Haynes track looks like a karting track! Or what about a Hillclimb type thing then everyone gets a go one after the other :)
