am looking to insure my mk1 1.3 driver and did a quote with gocompare.com and all my quotes were like 2000+
did a quote on quin direct and the quoted me £750 fully comp when im 18(which is in like a month)
just thought i'd try my luck with a 1.8 gti and they quoted me £975 fully comp (also when i turn 18) or £1200 if i was to do it when im 17

been reading some other posts about us younger drivers that cant get quotes on gti's and just doesnt seem right to me

what do you lot think?

There are a lot of variables when it comes to insurance. For example is the car garaged/on a driveway? What security does it have? What's your driving history? Who else is driving on the policy? What your NCD level? Where do you live etc etc.

That said it does seem unusually cheap, and someone may have made a mistake. If that's the case, the insurer can do one of two things - they can stand by the quote (you could be lucky) or as is far more likely, they'll requote it properly. It all depends on whether the Underwriter is having a good or bad day....  :laugh:

did you include one or both of your parents on the lower quotes as they often come down in price when you do that.

£975 for an 18 year old on a 1.8 GTI  sounds far too good to be true . . . . .

well i just put it in for both cars as parked on drive wtih no no claims discount as i only passed my test few months back
no alarm etc
o and it was just me on the policy

Sounds like something is wrong in that quote. When I passed my test when I was 18 it cost me £1100 to insure a Clio RT 1.4

yeh got the day off college 2moro and was gonna ring them up and ask them about it. will be good if they stand by it lol
