Title: mk2 ecu diagnostic plug... help my friend please..:)

hi all, popped over from the mk3 section to ask a question for a freind...
hes having a jerking problem on his 1.8 8v gti and he has been told that there is no 16 pin plug to get it read for fault codes...
is that right??
if there is one where will it be?

Now I may be a numpty on this, but I don't think a MKII would have a diagnostics plug.

fair enough, just thought if it had an ecu it would store potential codes..?

Think some of the US Spec digis had an led error code, we got none of that here tho.
