Is that lacquered as surely raw alloy will fur up and corrode ?

the vac hose isnt much use when in place anyway as its split in half!  :laugh: :grin:

looks clean not over keen on all the red wire every where just a quick question shep on top of your rocker cover what is that like cyclinder shaped object cant remember seeing one of those on my 8v mate

Idle stabilisation valve or ISV, they're only on the early mk3's though

can be a whole host of things and a shed loads of threads and discussions have already been made around this group on the issue. More than likely the throttle body needs cleaning out properly though.

only taped up the wires becuase my car is off the road atm iv got some red tubeing to go over the wiers to keep it all tidy should be on in the next few days im also goning to take the engine out so i can give then engine a bloody good clean

Looks fairly clean, have you painted your engine block, alternator and bracket?

Yeah, just plain silver. Its a bit tidier now as ive polished the inner wings  and blacked everything up.

you wouldve never of thought it was a 2 litre, ive seen 1.4 fill engine bays better than that!! :grin:

Maybe vw was conning every1 an its really a 1.8 8v, well with the power it produces it makes more sense  :kiss: :tongue:

To be fair the 16v bay is full of inlet manifold!  :tongue:

Since the 2.0 8v makes similar power to the mk2 8v and nobody mocks them.  :cool:

well thanx for all the pic's that have been posted guy's some good looking bays there so went out and tackeled mine today. at 1st sites of my bay i thought there was no hope but now i see light at end of tunell lol. before and after pic's below. my next task is to spray rocker cover but what colour? im thinking gloss black or white.
