I used heat shrink tubing to fix my dodgy wires where the insulation was exposed in the past.
I find it neater than wrapping it in electrical tape etc

dongt wrap the loom in isulation tape it goes sticky and mank quickly. you can get split conduit and loom tape  much tidyer job.  to fix wires  heatshrink where possiblel but insulting tape is sometimes only option

heatshrink is a pain in long strips. The wires cant flex well

As danny said, corrugated conduits look smart (when you use the appropriate t-pieces etc.) and make it easy to get to the wiring should you need to.

^^ they do stuff called 'twistwrap' which is great stuff though its not quite big enough for main wiring looms. i had to put a twist in it to cover everything, which is pretty hard when the loom is in situ, i had it all out on the floor so it made my life a bit easier.  advantage is you can easily open it to get to the wiring, and its not sticky!

ebay is a good source for loom tape though if you want to go down that route.
