I got the error above when i used my VAG.COM kit from Ebay (Totally recommended).

Whats the best actions to do; take it out and clean it or just replace it?

Also does anyone have a "how to change" process for changing this sensor?

Did you clear the code and rescan it?

i would try clean it first and clearing the codes. if it still comes up, the sensor is easy to change. jack the car up and u will see the sensor near the front of the cat, unsrew it carefully and follow the wiring. unclip it and put the new  the new sensor in. should be around £45-£50 from gsf or euro

Found this info on ross-tech wiki

  00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation: Upper Limit
Possible Symptoms

    * No Lambda control
    * Engine running problems

Possible Causes

    * Short to Ground (WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?)
    * Injector defective (blocked)
    * Fuel pressure regulator defective
    * Fuel pump defective
    * Fuel tank empty

Possible Solutions

    * Check Lambda probe and Lambda control
    * Check injectors (N30...N33)
    * Check fuel pressure regulator
    * Check fuel pump
    * Check fuel level in fuel tank

Know i even more confused, what to do first?

Check the voltage of the sensor- 0.2volts (lean) or 0.8volts (rich)

Did you clear the code and rescan it?

I was quick to answer before and cleared and rescaned, the lambda sensor is fine. So no issue there.

Hi all,

is it easy to fit the lambda sensor if i use axel stands to get under the car? I not lucky enough to have ramps etc..

yeah u will need to jack the front of the car. the sensor is at the front of the cat unscrew the sensor and follow the wire to the other end.

i used home made ramps, 2 planks of wood on some bricks!!!!!!!

Cannot believe it ace, I could not undo the sensor. Looks like a garage job again?

I also noticed the cable on the lambda was knackered.
