ok so i have a good customer at the landrover dealer here in holland and his little "shopping" car is a 1989 golf GTi 8v with a Digifiz dash
Now he wants to take it out and put the original one back in it
now if i help him do this he will GIVE yes GIVE me it ..............................
my question is this , what do i need to remove ??
Gearbox speed sensor ?? wiring loom ?? dash ?? fusebox ??
my car is also a 1989 GTi 8v
ta (ps it might be for sale soon LOL)

Can't help with the wiring shenanigans but you could see that for a bloody mint!
-
Out of curiosity how much do they go for and are they very different to wire in?
-
one went for about £200 the other day on fleabay, make sure you get the loom and shizzle for it though otherwise it's a bit of a pain to fit and won't get as much :)
-
£200 ?!? Normally a full Digifiz setup will fetch about £500...
jammy bast !

like everything. If advertised properly you can see top dolla.
Ive read that they have slightly diffrent clock brackets.
Personaly i'd sell it on. looks crap but goes for alot of money

you need:
loom from unit to fusebox, either easy if 90spec, or hard if pre-90! Follow the plugs from it as far as you can.
hangers from inside the dash
speedo sensor, though a mk3 one will also work. may as well use his though as he'll need a normal speedo cable!
loom from speedo sensor to dash, but this might be a fair bit of work. not hard to make your own loom up using mk3 speedo sensor plug

so sire Jonny of Rub
when you say "fair bit of work" are you talking a days rewiring or is it just follow the wires and unplug
i'm guessing his car is a per 90 like mine so is removing the wiring inside the car REALLY difficult ??
do you have a wiring diagram i could beg from you ???
-
main issue is the speedo loom will be integrated into the engine or lighting loom, so prob best to leave his alone and make your own one up see. dash wiring is dead easy if its 90spec as it runs from clocks to dash and is completly seperate to any of the other looms.
I have mk2 and mk3 diagrams, these should be enough to get it sorted, im 90% sure the speedo sensor is wired in as per mk3 :)

in fitted and looking retro as foooooooooook
how do i get the INSP lamp out ?????

and also my MPG doesnt work in this set of clocks , did on the old clocks , and the pipe is on for the vacuum pipe :undecided: :undecided:
-
I agree with Conker, this is the only 'scene' item i'd really enjoy having.
-
well for the right money and a swap of a loom i may sell it
or if the car fails its dutch MOT the whole lot will be for sale
got my eye on a loverly G60 ED1 but he wants €4500 for it

foooooookin hell !!!!!!
i like it but i have a few minor issues with it !!!! the clock resets to 01:00 every time the ign is off and the lighting system doesnt work propperly , i assume it will dim down when i put my lights on as during the normal daylight it is back light
Rubjonny , do you have a wiring Scheme for the Digifiz dash ????
-
Surely those two hiccups should be easy to remedy? Sounds like your using an IGN live, not constant live.
-
yeah i reccon so
but i have a couple of little connectors behind the fusebox that are not connecter and i didn't have them before :undecided: :undecided:
