hey guys i recently bought new angel eyes headlights for my golf and then bought 5000k hid kit. i installed the headlights then a week after i got the hid kit and installed them. all was working fine until about a week ago, my n/s xenon (hid xenon) dipped beam dosent work but the other side does..... and when i turn the light completely off and then back on they both work then? and some times they both come on straight away it is just 9/10 times the n/s light dosent work? i have taken the lights back out since and taped eveything up and made sure all was good but still does it? ay ideas please lads? thanks

check the fuse... or for loose wiring sounds more like a loose connection somewhere..
-
Or it could be a faulty ballast, swap them over and see if the fault follows the ballasts

mine occasionally do the same- one trick which seems to work (no idea why) is if I turn on the side lights first, for about 10secs, then the dipped headlights, both work fine. Also, when I took the bumper off last, I played around/untangled with the wiring and that seemed to do the trick as well.

hmmm i will have a go at it tonigt but is awkward wen driving at night and only one dipped beam :( i am taking bumper of again tonight to see but i think it is only maybe a ballast or a bulb perhaps i will swap them around tonight and see, only thing is i have secaflexed the ballasts down so they were secure and free from water lol thanks guys :)

ballast keeps tripping out mate, send it back and get a new one, it's the only solution

hey again after taking my headlights out again....... *sigh* it is the ballast pack that is faulty so i am getting a new sent out in the next day or two but now another problem has occured, i now have no headlights full stop now :S ??? i have checked the fuses in the drivers compartment at the end of the dash and all is well and no blown fuses but still have no lights (only the o/s light works as the n/s ballast is down) what so ever now can anyone please help me ? thanks anthony

help me please ><

You need to start by using a multi meter to check if you are getting 12v to the plug for the headlight when they are switched on.

come on people rhyso wouldd know :P
no i don't know
wazzzer and old_no7 have told you what it is already and you've said you got a ballast on order so you're going to have to wait but in the meantime do what Wazzzer has suggested
just eat plenty of carrots so you can see in the dark
-
TBH if one ballast has failed you might be very unlucky and have another one that is tempremental as well
One of mine occasionally trips out butr it's not bugging me enough to change it. Plus it fell into the auxillary belt when I didn't secure it properly one day so I doubt that helped
