Title: flat spots
Post by: GTi-Kid on 19 May 2009, 16:21
hi all, when im drivin along as i get up to about 3000rpm it feels as though there is no power and hn sometimes on an odd accasion the power comes back at about 4000rpm, its a mk3 GTI 8v it has a driled airbox bu was already drilled when i brought the car.
also in 3rd n 4th and the same revs its also as if the revs slow down cos they take quite a while to build up at times.

mny thnaks Dan,

yep there all gravy my work mate ita use to work at a vw audi specialest and he seems to think that its in need of a tune up, he thinks theres not enought fuel, although runs superb with no air filter and like a peice with a filter, although my suspission are the fuel pump as the car wouldnt start just now for about 40 sec's and i tryed one last time and i flicked on the ignition and after about 2 or 3 seconds after the ignition was on the fuel pump slowely made its little noise. am i on to somethin surely i wont need a tune up at 93k???
cheers for your time guys means a lot! Dan.

took it down to be tuned guy said it was the lamba sensor so £60 later replaced it and still no different. i think personally its where the air box has been drilled out and theres more air and not enough fuel

give the thottle body a really good clean (this will cost a couple of quid but its the best way of making the mk3 run better) and then get it on vag-com and scan for any fault codes, clear them and run for a few days and then scan again and see what shows up (I'm sure someone here will be able to help with the vag-com bit for a few beers )
