Title: Mk2 PB 8v - coolant leak from temp sender, rubber washer gone, Still available??

Sod it!!!

Just spent hours this weekend flushing through the coolant sytem on my Mk2 8v PB, and fittted a new plastic housing on the front of the head which houses the temp and fan senders as thought this was leaking.

10 miles today and dumped most of my coolant as my old sender (blue and black) in the new plastic housing aren't seating properly as the rubber washers they sit on are leaking massively.

Obviously this was the problem all along but with the old plastic housing the gunk must have self sealed to a better degree over time.

Now it pisses out.

So, I need an urgent plan of action tonight ( 9am hospital appointment) as to whether these are still available from VW or GSF, or if I have to purchase brand new senders at about £50 + just to get the seals. Bit of a gamble if I can get to the hospital and make a dash to the dealer on route.

Any one know if they're easily or reddily available????

I got new o-rings about a month ago for a couple of quid but it was next day delivery.

did you remember to fit the clips to the sensors? :laugh:

Ha - I asked for that didn't I as I didn't mention it??? Yes I definately fitted them. The black one is the loosest, it just spins around even under the clips!!

Did you get the O rings from VW or from GSF???

gsf do them too, more chance of having 'off the shelf' but go vag 1st.  worst case try the scrappy, loads of vag models use sensor of the same bore

I managed to limp to GSF and get said offending items (and a spare) with out loosing too much coolant, replace them and still get to the hospital for my 9am appointment!!!!
