been playing up when starting for a couple of days but today i stopped at the shops on the way home and it just wouldnt start again at all. i can hear the fuel pump and ive checked the sparks. yes it has petrol so what next??
:-*
-
timing?
-
well its not turning over at all. but it was running fine when actually running if u know what i mean. just wouldnt re start. ive squirted a load of wetstart on it for another try in the morning cos it did rain today but it doesnt usually play up after rain. i know ive got electrical problems that ive been bodging but perhaps this is the end of the bodge jobs :(
-
Does it turn over at all when ya try?
-
Ok, just read it properly now, Could be that your alternator is f**ked ???
-
it was playing up originally, when i tried to start it would do nothing for a few turns and then eventually give up being a fecker and turn over. been like that for a few days. then today played up to start with, drove to shops and it wouldnt start at all even after like 10 goes, had to push it home :-[

hmmmmmmmmm, i meant to say starter motor, not alternator. . .whoops!
-
yep not turning over at all now. so we thinking starter motor?? thats actually a result if it is, will be a damn site cheaper than the new fusebox and loom im trying to put off for a while longer :(
-
LOL, they'll only bite ya in the arse later!
-
did you try pushing it in 2nd or 4th to get it moving again?
Some RAC guy told me that^ when mine was f**ked. Turned out to be the electrical thing ontop of the motor. not sure on mk1's though

You mean the solenoid on top of the start motor ;)
Check the connections , also check the earth on the gearbox.
