Title: 4 wheel alignment
Post by: Rhyso on 18 May 2009, 16:45
following on from my Loose Front End (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=111356.0) i popped down to Mototec in Blackwood near where i live for a full alignment checkup

here's the results
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/Rhyso/Alignment.jpg)

as you can see the camber was out but not as much as i was expecting

a quick adjustment and this is what i've now got
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y276/Rhyso/Alignment001.jpg)

and they did a chassis alignment - looks straight to me

First impressions are good; despite it being only a small adjustment it does seem better planted at speed like it used to be.  Most of this could well be a placebo effect but as long as its a positive one i dont really mind

also my steering wheel now sits perfectly straight  :smug:

IMO well worth the £43 it cost me and after any further suspension work i'll definitely be heading back to Mototec :afro:

NB - don't forget that its only the front they can adjust unless its a 4Motion

yes was pleased with the price as i was originally quoted £49 + VAT but i only needed the camber adjusting so they charged accordingly

its worth a try mate - as i've said it does feel better and thats given the rubbish weather conditions we have here

Keep us posted mate. :afro:
Mine needs doing, not had it looked at. Now i've had the suspension done, and ive changed the wishbones and had the VRS bushes fitted.
£43 sounds a fair price, unless it needs more work.

deffo worth doing mate - it may not be out at all but it will be peace of mind   VRS bushes won't make a difference as you can't alter the rear on a MK4 (unless its a 4Motion)

Mines always pulled slightly to the left, when it was standard and now when its been lowered  :undecided: If I put my foot down it pulls like f@ck to the left, got to love torque steer

By the look of what was on the screen when he first put the motor on there, it shoulda been going round in circles.

All you can adjust is the toe, everything else is fixed on the 2mo. you can buy camber shims
