Is it ok to run my 1.8 agu engine on optimax 98 rom fuel or will it only run on 95 rom :undecided:
-
lol it will run fine on 98 RON.
FYI - Optimax was the OLD Shell premium fuel. Its now called V-Power and is 99 RON. Your 1.8T wont be designed to run on it so if you will see much of a difference in power is arguable. Bare in mind it will take a good few tanks for your ECU to adjusted to the increase in RON.

Good luck finding any Optimax these days!! :D
Your ECU will automatically adjust to the RON rating of fuel you use, but will probably take a good few tank fulls to fully adapt. ;)

Is there a parrot in here ?
:D :D :D
-
ps My car runs like a 3 legged greyhound if I put 95 sh*te in it now! :D

Gets money off your fuel -dunno how much because it won't work on my crappy computer :(
-
I dare not install that whilst in my work laptop connected to my work server but will try it when I get back tonight I think (if I remember).

Use Tescos super unleaded thats 99 octane use to use it in my Golf use it on the quad now.
-
lol I also use Tesco 99 but just because its local.
-
So i can use 98 rom in a standard turbo engine, also will i notice any difference
-
You will probs see a small increase in MPG, I doubt you will see much in terms of performance, maybe a little.
Placebo effect springs to mind. I cant really notice much difference in the MK5 although I use 99 RON all the time now as I'm lead to believe its better for my engine and the FSI engines are designed to run on higher octane RON. When I changed (stopped being a tight ass) my MPG went up ever so slightly, different people seem to experience different side effects.
