Do you mean the kak auto box that you can push the stick to the right hand side and just bang up and down ?
If you are they were SH!T
-
Oh right yeah. I think the V5 model came with this? Not really sure to be honest, never seen one on anything other than a V5. You will have a job finding one though as they are super rare, also the V5 is a bit of a sh!ty model and I wouldnt bother with it.

Yep it's in a v5
Why is v5 a bad model, this one is specced to the hills....

the wife had the gay tiptronic box in an fto years ago, and shyte is not the word...... maybe the box wasnt too bad the car made it feel even worse then it was

Yeah, you will find most V5s will come with a high spec list as they where a sort of "highline" model. Early V5 models came with 150BHP but most will be 170BHP, fuel economy is shocking for the sort of performance you get. A 1.8T with a remap will leave a V5 for dust, do considerably better MPG and I'd hazard an estimated guess that they will cost less to buy in the first place (granted it probably wont be as high a spec). Depends what your after in the MK4 really.
If you want a nice nippy sporty hatchback the 1.8T is the way forward.
If you want a highspecd to do motorway miles in a GT TDI 150 is the way forward.
If you want a high spec thats quick then the 2.8 V6 is worth a look.
You will find some 1.8Ts with lots of toys but will be considerably harder to find as the V engine range of models you will find will more often than not come with a nice spec, as well as the 150 dervs.

just to clarify, what do you get in the v5 spec wise that you dont get in the 1.8t variant

Off the top of my head I couldnt tell you want came standard on the V5 that didnt on the 1.8T, you just find that the sort of person that bought the V5, V6 & 150 TDIs from new often went all out on the tick boxs so most of them come more specceed than the 1.8T, if that makes sense?

FYI - 02 + (later models) came with an different ECU map out the factory to give 180bhp (as opposed to the original 150bhp).
