I'm losing coolant...small puddle under the car that the first dealership attributed to the air conditioning unit being condensing as they couldn't find any leaks.
Went in for another check at the one more local and that still found nothing despite a definite loss in the coolant level. Since then I went for a 30 mile round trip and 2 days later the coolant had dropped below minimum and the warning light came on. This was the biggest loss yet.
It went into the dealership and they still can't find a leak from the hoses, there is no mayo in the oil when looking in the filler hole, so i presume no head gasket issues?
Any thoughts?
i had the cam belt done 2 1/2 week ago, and it was carried out by a dealership so i presume the kit was used as they said it was...dunno if that helps or confuses things.

I would say a leak in the radiator. Maybe when they fitted the cambelt, they moved/not tightened something.....

This might help..

Did they change the pump when they changed the belt?
-
I had coolant loss issues and it was down to a faulty flange where the coolant enters the system, see the thread posted by ub7rm. I would have thought the dealers you took it to would have found this though . .

Did they change the pump when they changed the belt?
............i was going to ask the same.
-
It came as a kit...dunno about the pump but will ask. Are you saying they should replace the pump as part of the Cam Belt Kit, or that its advisable and at my cost?
I'm also thinking its the "flange" (oooh errr missus) issue that Alan's thread highlights as the way in which it is leaking/disappearing is so similar.
-
It is advisable to change the pump as they change the cam belt, since they pretty much have everything apart so changing the pump is easy. If you need to change the pump alone at a later date, it will mean stripping things down again.
-
well unless its advisable by VW UK and part of the Cam belt kit i suspect its not been done...and it wasn't offered to me...if the pump has failed its under warranty anyway so i can get it sorted that way. Cheers for feedback though

well, the reason for the leak has been identified. flanges leaking around the coolant bottle and also one pipe to the matrix showing signs...why they couldn't find that the first 3 times is beyond me, and i pointed them in the direction of the flanges thanks to advice of here
But hopefully that'll all be sorted tomorrow and i can drive without the fan kicking in after 30secs of the engine being turned on
