Title: Is this grill a striaght swap?
Post by: mcchriswood on 16 May 2009, 14:35
Im thinking of swapping my standard Grill on my mk2 Golf the one with the fog lights on for a grill with just two headlights on. Does anyone know if its just a case of taking one off and replacing it or do i have to unplug the foglights and take all the wireing out ewtc or do i just hide the wiring.
I want too go from this :

Is it a straight swap. ie. same clips in same places etc
Thanks
Chris

yes its a stright swop, just tape up and hide this wires for the spots then if u want to put a four light grill on again at some point then u still have a the wires. the only time you have to change the slam pannel is when u put a jetta grill on. if your looking at buying a cheap single light grill i wouldnt trust the clips, they tend to break easy, just put a couple of table ties on to be on the safe side

bonrath grilles are good but expensive.

or these from ebay which are cheaper but also worst quality and poorer fit.

Don't bother with a de-badge grille - they don't fit and look sh!te although you may need to fit it to convince yourself it was a bad idea.  The one I had jumped off the car every time I released the bonnet!

Late single-light badged grille FTW.
