would you consider a-post to be structual, the only reason i ask is vosa are checking my car on wednesday and as the cills that are corroded to hell conect to the a-post, and the "excess corrosion" is within 30cm of the a-post (both sides),hence my thinking of it failing an mot due to the a-post been "structual",is this right?anyone who knows please share your valuable info with me as im still feeling  about all this

and if the sills are holed/corroded it shouldnt pass an m.o.t....eveb more so if the a pillar/bulkhead has gone too!!
-
No way on this earth should that have an mot, it is almost beyond repair.
-
i would get those side skirts off and have a look underneath there too.
Think it could be repaired though.
-
The skirts should be screwed to the sill, as mike said would be worth looking underneath and see how bad they are.
-
The garage in question look's like it's in a bit of bother!
Wouldn't worry though daimo I know it's not a good situation but you won't end up out of pocket!
-
My bent sill / jacking point made me feel sick, but now i feel better. lol.

At the end of the day mate, you will have this sorted in a few days and will be in pocket.
Either buying a new car, or having this one fixed. It looks repairable as the jacking point has rotted down, but not seperated if that makes sense?
-
lets say it just passes (for whatever reason)how much am i looking at to repair it at a garage

Well it should not pass, and is a lot of work to put right the labour charges will be the biggest expense.
-
Jacking points will be around £80-100 a side for a proper repair (but it does depend on how bad they really are!! mine were just squashed but not rusty and thats the price I was quoted as a load of trim need to be removed)...
-
i paid 80 quid cash to have both side jacking points re welded and repaired
it will fail the mot if there is excess corosion within 12" of a jacking point / suspension mount or seat belt mounting
or holled to excess

is that right about 12" 30cm of a jacking point, not doubting you just wanna make sure

Not sure if the sills are seen as the official jacking points. As haynes etc dont say to use them?
