I'm after a sub (10 inch) and amp (don't need a box) and I've picked out these two:
JVC CS-GS5100 10 inch sub

JVC: KS-AX4302 2/1 channel Amplifier

I'm not after big power just a subtle addition to the factory sound. Ideally don't want to send more than ~£100.
Any suggestions
Tim

Have you considered an active sub (including amp)?
I'm considering getting one of these to fit discreetly under the passenger seat:

What about the fact the frequency doesn't go low enough? Mines sweet FA to me, but you seemed bothered :)

I checked it again and it goes down to 25Hz. Not bad considering the average human can't hear anything below 20Hz!
I must have got it confused with one of the others. Many of the other SFF subs only go down to around 80Hz, so don't handle deep bass very well.

I think it looks a good unit for the price, it's just fitting it somewhere. I mentioned before, under the seat is the heating vents for the rear passengers. Won't mix well with the amp.

Was going to say 25Hz will be fine. Not much down that end of the music anyway in what I listen to.
could still mount it in the boot I guess?
-
He can't, he's got a dog he puts in there :)

I might see if I can remove the heating vent on that side. I don't have people in the back often anyway. I've not got a sunroof either, so not worried about leaks and the footwells flooding.

You pay a premium for having a small form factor. Something like this would probably fit better in the boot, and it's cheaper too!

Neither have I, but they've been discussed on here before:

I can't imagine CAD would stock them if they weren't semi-decent.

True, true. A shop would never stock something cheap and nasty just to make money :)

There was absolutely no reason for you to bring Halfords into this.

just to let you know the active sub will not fit under the front seat regardless of removing the vent the rear seat frame sits too close to the floor
