I use my car daily, and everything's been fine up until the last couple of days and it's starting to get worse.
It rained last night and I have a surface layer of rust spots on the functional part of my brake disks. I know when I drive and brake, it will come right off but is it normal to form so quickly overnight?
-
yeah its normal. When i wash the car by the time ive done the polishing and bumper care the discs are brown from oxidisation.
-
After braking once it will all go, its just normal mate. Nothing to worry about.
-
its normal even going round a nice merc garage they normly have rust on the discs
-
Cool,
Maybe only notice it now because of new alloys.
Thanks for the info, will stop worrying :)
-
You could spray some WD40 on em??  :lipsrsealed:
The sh1tty cheap ones on my mk4 will rust in 5 mins  over night they get so bad it takes a few miles to scrub em up..

:undecided: -
-
de-icer on the disks and pads will stop them from rusting or squeeking mate ;)
(WARNING: DO NOT DO THIS!!!)
-
Brakes squeaking? they need oiling!!
disclaimer - dont be stupid.
-
are you sure its rust - mite be chocolate
-
I'll try some all-purpose grease on the pads and brakes next time they squeak, should protect from rust too...
While I'm there I'll remove the brake lines too as I heard it makes you go faster
-
just take the fronts off and blank them
makes for , erm , interesting moments
