mk2 1.8 16v gti kr engine 1989 f reg.
ok so my oil presure light flashes and my temp gauge dont work,
i checked my oil presure a while ago with an oil pressure tester gauge and it was fine, (also, it dosen't buzz when cornering, also a good sign to me)
and i've got a new header tank and coolant sensor,
i have been thinking about putting a bit of electrical tape over the flashing oil light to stop it (joke)
i've heard about the pcb on the back of the dials causing probz would this cause both these problems?
also dose any one have a clue to which wire goes to witch sensor on the side of the head? (a photo guide would be good at this point)
how many sensors dose vw need?
if i knew the the correct sensor's was fitted to the correct wires at least i could start pointing the finger at the pcb.
ok so i've had a few beers tonight but ask me some questions so i can help you help me    i'll be sober tomorrow
thanks in advance

all 3 sensors on the side of the head should be the same, make sure they all have a black collar. swap the red/yellow wire to a different sensor, if the gauge works you have found a duff sensor, if not its a wiring/clocks fault.
the oil pcb can go bad but it wouldnt effect the coolant gauge, so i suspect you have a bad earth or something, if the rest of the clocks work (rev counter, mfa etc)

sweet thanks will give that a try.
why some many sensors??
