Any make around that price will be fairly decent!

Just check the mounting depth if you are making your own enclosure.

10" type r's sound good. vibe blackair mk1's are very very good - i got two of them :D

cant beat jl audio. although their subs carry a hefty price tag!

I'm looknig for similar, problem is getting an amp that is more powerful for a reasonable amount..

I have a 10" JL sub in a sealed carpeted box (supplied with the sub when new) which I'll let you have for £60. For a ton I'll throw in an (admittedly a bit scruffy) Alpine V12 MRV amplifier that I used to run it. Paired the sound is amazing....

Has been sat in my loft for the past year and bit since selling my Subaru - the only reason I don't have in running in the beemer is because it's notoriously difficult to upgrade the stock BMW gear.

I can even deliver tomorrow, as I'm down in London all day and will be driving past Stevenage when I come up the A1....

Amps are always going to be dear :(

I got my subs for £45 each (bit of a dodgy deal but still) but had to fork out £110 just for the amp, maybe more I think, and thats not even close to expensive for an amp, bit silly really.

Im tempted S11EPS! thats a very nice offer. What model is the JL sub? do you know the capacity of the sealed box? Im at uni in plymouth at the moment, but im back after the 21st of may...
I have already got an Alpine V12 MRV amplifier actually, my mate sold it to me for £50 hardly used too...

I'll whip the sub out at the weekend at post the details and some photos.
Not sure of the volume of the box but it was bought in an audio shop in Cambridge at the same time as the sub - it was recommended as a perfect match by the top man there - It's probably a JL box because it is the exact volume as recommended by JL.
It sounds immense, you certainly wouldn't be disappointed.
If you have the amp installed and hooked up when you get home we can meet halfway (Bedford?) and you can have a listen.

wampablo: whats wrong with infinity gear? ive got a pair of two way component infinity speakers to fit up front, had some infinity 6x9s before and they sounded very good (for 6x9s)...

S11EPS: That sounds great. i live near ware on the A10, so bedfords a bit far, where abouts do you live?  Il try and plumb my whole new system in by then, but if not, i can imagine it sounds good.
