Title: Red letters in GTI/TDi Badges
Post by: Mk2Gti8v on 07 August 2004, 19:12
Could anyone tell me if the amount of red letters on mk4 gti/tdi's mean anything as i have seen some tdi with no red letters and some with all 3 red and gti with a red i  ???

GTI with a red i meant it was the turbo version, although you can now have turbo badges underneath GTI.

The red i on the tdi means its either the 110bhp or 130bhp+ model. all chrome tdi badges mean they are the entry level tdi at around 90bhp.

err.. not quite, for a start my turbo has all silver badging. there's a thread in the mk4 section somewhere explaining it all, quick search should find it.  :D

from my knoweldge the red indicates power...

on a tdi

silver+ std

1 red+ 110bhp

2red = 130bhp,

3red = 150bhp

maybe wrong, but im sure ill be corrected if so  ;)

as far as i understood it was to do with tuning, Red I means its faster on the low end, Silver means faster on the high end, At least thats what my mum told me.
