Title: Removing Front Wiper Motor
Post by: TimGuyUK on 12 May 2009, 10:08
Hi Guys. Been a while. Lost my Mk2 Driver to the rear end of a Vauxall so picked up a GTI 8v Mk3 as a replacement. Lots of little niggley faults, and MOT only 2 weeks way. First of Which:

Got the dreaded Only work on full, no return symtoms on the Front wipers.

Changed the relay, although I can feel it clicking when I return the stork to off.

I havent changed the stork but I reckon its the motor reading through the old posts.

I went to have a look last night but I couldnt lift the plastic trim off, the big round buttons with the cross head in them, none of them will un screw. I did managed to flip one out with a large flat head but then noticed the thread on the underside. Will be it safe enough to slip them off as none of them appear to want to unscrew?

Anything I can do to the wiper motor or is it pretty much a replacement job?

Tim

to remove the platics they simply pry out (go carefull as they tend to snap!) but I would say its a stalk issue rather than the motor!! the motors fail altogether yet the switches commonly get gunked up inside and certain things stop working!
