A salesman managed to show me around the new golf gti WITH XENONS. does looks extraordinarly good in real life. was impressed. inside was slightly bland but better than the MK5. it was the top spec model. If anyone can tel me how to add pictures on this thing i wil do so.
Thanks for the link guys. Well I went in last friday, and it just came in but they would not let me see it cos it was in the loading area in the garage being checked over and so they told me to come back on monday morning (today) .
Went in today, met the salesman told him i was interested in the scirocco and the new golf especially. He eventually took both of them out and lined up em up side by side. absolute treats them cars were. still not sure which one i would go for, cos the golf looked better than i expected.
so this was a demonstator, not for sale. i asked him if i could buy one there and then, but he said you would have to order it taking 12-16 weeks minimum. im not sure this is true cos ive had a look on autotrader on they are on sale!! but stupidly high prices.
enough of the jibber jabbar. behold..

GO GO GO UPLOAD UPLOAD UPLOAD !!
-
very nice, i ordered white with xenon's and hope it is as good in real life as it looks in the photos.
Hopefully will see more pics when you get them uploaded. Cheers for the first shot!
-
it is. you shant be disappointed. this spec had 18s monzas and satnav. the works basically, but im guessing it cost about 28 grand.
-
that does look rather tasty
go and take more pics dammit!!
-
Wow, that just looks soooooo good.
More pics please, more pics.
-
I'm in love, hope my misses understands
-
WOW   that 3rd pic you have just added makes it look amazing!!!!!
-
Hey Koop, I like how every few hours a new pic gets uploaded, the suspense is killing me!
Are there any more to come or is that all the pics?
-
just keeping the thread interesting! lol
-
This is like dangling a mouse infront of a cat and he can't quite reach it!! It is torture!!!!
That new pic makes the GTi look much better than the Scirocco! Glad i bought the GTi as about 7 months back i was set on getting a Scirocco!!!
-
well im still deciding, but when i saw the xenons and the front of the gti it killed the scirocco completely i thought. the exhausts are quite big too, but not got any pictures :embarassed:
-
Yeah i waited for the Xenons to be an option as they really looked good plus i live in the middle of nowhere so they are also very handy!
Did you get any pics of the interior?
-
well i had a brief look didnt think it was worth takin a picture to be honest (although i shuda done jus for the hell of it)! it had the sat nav and red-stitching around everywhere but pretty standard!
-
prefer the rocco although, having looked at one at the weekend, the back is useless for adults.
-
I saw it outside the VW garage in Manchester today
-
Lurve it! Want one! Unfortunately the mrs hates it! Women.... (not that i could afford one anyway!)
-
 mmmmm me likey

Really dislike those lights!
-
Really dislike those lights!
Handy for you that those lights are a GBP 1025.00 option! The standard lights do not look like that.
-
Really dislike those lights!
+1 but the car is mint!!! Im amazed they can charge that much for lights and people are actually paying it!!
-

I agree. The xenons are a €1550 option here in France and there was no way I could justify that kind of outlay just to look cool. I went for active chassis control and sunroof instead (for the same money).
-
and there was me thinking sun roofs were the most pointless optional extra.

Well done bud, and I suppose that is one way to look at it that you can get a few more extra's for the cost of the xenons. Enjoy :)
-

They're pointless in the UK because it rains all the time, so you can never open them. Less of an issue here in France
-
My sun roof has been used nearly everyday the last few weeks . . .
-
The lights look great to me, love the look of them, looks alot more aggressive imo.
-
Sunroof of pointless, Makes a real noise if u have it open above 45mph..... Also weakens shell. Why have a sunroof if the car has an aircon unit?
And its all about having something that little bit different, I imagen alot wont take the Xenons which will make mine that little bit more special.

I love the sunroof, lights the whole car up and lets the sun in. Just personal preference im guessing.
-
Exactly - sunroofs are all about letting light in to the cabin, especially as the GTI is only available in black or extra black (leather).

I think the black interior on the GTI looks great, far better than the ghastly white/beige you usually get

yup, the interior looks great, the ceiling especially.
-
I had a sun roof in my mk4 and its something I really miss in the mk5. It brightens up the interior a lot and crucially just gives you an extra choice for how to cool your car. Perfect for town where a/c just gobbles down the fuel. Out on the open road close the sunroof and crank up the a/c

Yeah agreed, I love having air con AND sunroof, gives you the options in all weather :nerd:

Anymore pics Koop ?

Warrington - have got a 5 door silver one just arrived - so booked my test drive for the weekend!

Nice one mate, looking forward to seeing them.

Just been told by a friend who has seen the Aberdeen one (silver, 5 door) that the side skirts have been removed from the UK spec. Now that i look at the photos that Koop took, it is clearly not to be seen their either! Hmm, i think i liked them, but will report back when i have seen it in the flesh tomorrow!
-
^^^^ there is a silver one in Vw Wolverhampton, i viewed the other day and i thought there wasn't something quite right about it but couldn't put my finger on it. It looked like a standard golf bar the Monza II's
-
No side skirts is a poor show from VW UK.
-
Hi
Popped in to Mann Egerton Exeter yesterday, had reflex silver 5dr mk6 gti in showroom with 17" monzas , the car definitely had the swirly sideskirts ahead of the rear wheel.
-
Hmm, right i shall get some pics of the one in Abedeen to see what it has got on it and post them. It is also in silver and 5 door.
-
Been to my local dealer this morning, silver 5dr, DSG, Leather, Reverse Camera, MFW, RCD 510/MDI, Monza 18 shadows & a few other bits...........£27,860!!!
I'm not that keen on the shadows though, a bit too glossy!
I'm going back on Monday, when I think I'll be specc, ing 3 door, DSG, Leather, Xenon, reverse Cam, convenience pack, highline, RCD510 with MDI & a Sunroof.....(Don't ask)
Overall the MKVI feels so much nicer inside than my previous ED30, but I have 2 big choices too make, firstly colour.......Carbon grey, Steel grey (Same as my ED30) or Black as my R32 & other MKV GTI.
Secondly, do I hold back on the GTI & take the unregistered run out R32 they have in steel grey/leather etc..... for almost £10K less than I'm gonna be spending on a new GTI??

Ridicules
I just cant see where VW are going to get their sales from. That EASY S3 money, and no matter how you put it the S3 is a better car.
-
Think all the Garages must have them in now. Just spoken to Verve in Glasgow which is where i bought mine from. They have a silver 5 door DSG, ame as Aberdeen. Wots with all the silver cars? Anyway am getting a test drive on Sunday so will report back!
-
Verve has one Neil ? Will pop along tomorrow for a gander. Will see if they let me take some pics too.

:undecided: Agree, S3 would make more sense for this money, but so would the R32 they have for £19500 unregistered with leather & a few other options. Thats almost £10K less with a bit of a haggle...... There will be no discounting off the GTI I have been told....

Is it me or do VW have a lot of SILVER MKVI's in the showrooms

Get haggling with your dealer, i got 2k off!

Honestly?!
I assume you mean a main dealer as well & not a broker................If so which dealer?

I've heard this a lot over the years, and still have a chuckle at it.
You tell em you want the car and they dont haggle with you, you turn around and walk away and dont say a word, they will be calling you back before you know it, your just a big £ sign to them. If they don't they are either, a) at their target for the month (which is why its always best to buy a car at the end of every month), b) they think you'll come back, or c) they are cocks.
-
Strange tho cos I've used the same dealer for years, they discounted my ED30 by £2K, I had discount on my R32 & my first MKV GTI in 2005 had a £1K off it...................... Oh well s'pose we'll see on Monday just how serious they are :smug:
-
Get haggling with your dealer, i got 2k off!
I got £3300 off mine (in France).
-
nice car but not worth 27/28 grand  thats mad, you could buy a new RS or S3 for that kind of cash.
-
Honestly?!
I assume you mean a main dealer as well & not a broker................If so which dealer?
Yeah i did it by phone though rather than going into the dealer as i live in the middle of nowhere. nearest dealer 50 miles away and wasn't going to do any discounts so called glasgow and said what deals were going on the net and asked the best price they could do. They came back with a price over 1k less than RRP, bit of haggling, another call or 2, said if he lowered it to xxx then i would give him my switch card details and buy it. Called back 2 mins later and agreed to the price i asked for. Admitadly i have alot of options on the car so maybe it gave them a bit more scope to work on.
I think as Kev mentioned ealer, dont seem too keen, if you do that they know you want it and will pay full wack. Say you were hoping for a figure of xxx (maybe 1500 or 2 k less) and then keep negotiatingand meet somewhere inbetween. If they are not interested, they may call you back. You could even say on leaving, lower the price to xxx and call me and i will buy it.
Might work, might not, the least i have ever got off a new golf is £1500.
-
Get haggling with your dealer, i got 2k off!
I got £3300 off mine (in France).
Good going!!!! Anyone manage to beat that deal yet???
-
looks nice but £28K...Far more better cars for that money! Whats wrong with you lot
£2k off is nothing! They are making a killing off you either way and will get that back off you.
Im guessing its cheaper to go the the main site in Germany and place your order there?
I know some workers in a car factory that can get the cars they build for nearly half the price fully loaded!
-
Got a glimpse of one at the local dealer. Only a glimpse as it was on its way out on a test drive  I thought they weren't allowed out yet?!
-
black gti anyone?

in my opinion i love the black. but the xenons kill it and it seems without the xenons it doesnt look spectacular. the one i saw i was impressed but only because of the xenons look.
-
tis true..... at the mo you car get ALOT of car for £28k!!!
Looks nice in black... but £28k nice?? mmm not so sure.
-
As a boring git I prefer my black cars... but Im not sure the mk6 looks good in black

For that price I'd go for the R32
I prefer the pictures of the car in white rather than black........ And how much for Xenons now, I'd feel as if I was having my pants pulled down. They are only £605 on the Eos!!!
-
Right just done my final configuration before I see the dealer tomorrow & it's scary, here goes:
3 door
Steel grey paint
DSG
Vienna Leather
18 inch shadows
Xenon
Lux & winter pack
RCD510 with Reverse camera
Park Assist
Sunroof
Flat Tyre indicator (£35)
Telephone prep & MFW
£29,500!!!!!!!!!! Plus service pack is over £30K.........for a golf        :undecided:
I'm starting to get really unsure on this now, thats a lot of money & the most I have spent on any car let alone a Golf..........
Maybe I should just get a standard one with RCD510 & Xenon, I'll pick up some after market Monza II's, cos I'm not that fussed on the shadows & save about £6K :undecided:
-
Sorry guys, but Im not taking to this new MK6.
The only bit I like about it is the back exhausts being split.....
Maybe you need to see the car in person....
Oh and Schuey - no way would I spend £30k on it. I had to question twice whether I should spend the £19k that I did on my Ed30!! Although I dont regret it for a minute now!! lol
-
havnt been on the site for a while still got my edition 30 and its still a hard car to replace, it does every thing so well. just looked at the pics of the black mk 6 GTI is it me or does it look crap and the monza wheels do not look right at all. if i was going to spend that sort of money i would be in a BMW garage or seriously thinking of buying an Audi S3.
i think im going to wait for the new sirocco r

Unlike some other Mk5 owners, I really like the look of the MK6, but that is ridiculous money. You could buy a used S3 for the same price which I think everyone on here would admit is in a different class.
-
I think while yes its a lot of money, a genuine realistic price is at least 10% off retail. i.e. if your spec is topping out at 29,500 then Id expect to pay around £27k, if you dont, then go to an internet dealer.

Good config, but personally I would fit an aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth kit - my VW dealer advised me to do this when I bought my Eos and he was right: it's a lot cheaper and a lot better (apart from the fact that it's not fully integrated). Also, have you actually seen steel grey in person? I'm not 100% sure as the names vary between France & the UK, but I've seen 'steel grey' on an ordinary Golf and it looks a bit odd - too blue & too pale, IMHO. Also - at least here on the Continent the 5-door outsells the 3-door 2:1 - something you might want to consider for when it's time to resell? Finally, I wouldn't bother with the rear camera, the standard park assist is easily enough, though maybe this is because I'm used to driving (and parking) a Ford Transit with no back windows :D
Just my opinion - good luck with the ordering ;)
-
I'd choose a 5 door DSG in red with cloth seats and 17" wheels. No VW extras.
Then a superchip remap.
That's what I'll order when the Mk7 comes out.
-
I wonder if the two tone black on the Monza wheels on that black GTI is an optional extra ?
-
I couldn't forgive myself to spend nearly 30k on a mk6 GTi, that is still not as powerful as my ED30 is, or comes less base spec equipped in the first place.
I think my ED30 was 23.5k from main dealer on the first batches out, and I thought at the time it was a lot to pay for a Golf.
If I do replace it next year for a mk6 it will be base spec, with just Xennons and 18's, but even then it expensive from main dealer so would be an internt broker for me.
R20 would be a good and better option though.
Dave
-
Bare in mind that 30k has pretty much near as makes no difference EVERY box ticket, which imo there is no need for unless you have money to burn.
-
saw a MK6 GTI back home in West Wales
looked ok although avoid 17's at all cost - very cheap and nasty looking IMO
-
I like em. Good looking cars, really really nice interior but its not that different to the mk5 (apart from the interior) to make me jump out of mine and buy one. Dynamically they will be much and such the same. But the price is just nuts, and it makes me think there will be no R20. If there was it would be priced way into S3 money without options... or is that VW's cunning plan so that it doesn't undercut the S3 too much :undecided:
-
If the specification were same, just how much more is the 6 compared with the 5? Also I think VW should have had a newer alloy instead of using up Monza's.
At 28k which will equal well over 40k (Euro) here in Ireland I will stick to my BMW!
I also just went to the Audi web site and configures an S3 with a few bits and only got to just over 30k without Nav and just over 31k with Nav. Now I know which one I would rather have!

Its £22,415 retail and £20,095 with an internet dealer. If the mk6 came with the same extras the mk5 does then there would not be a problem, its just that most extras on the mk6 dont come as standard pushing the price up.
I'd rather have a mk5 or mk6 GTI than an S3, each to their own.

Interesting. I have ordered my GTI with 17" wheels totally blind, having never seen the wheels or the car itself. I didn't order the 18" horseshoe wheels as I find them particularly nasty, so I stuck with the 17" ones... which I will be selling on eBay as son as the car is delivered in favour of these, which I got cheap on German eBay last week and which were delivered today :)

I like these alloys FroGTI, mind post pics up when you have them on your mk6

Hi Guys...
I'd been into Priory Pk VW (JCT600) in Hull yesterday and they had a silver 5 door GTi with DSG and a few options on it.
£28k ish I was told by the sales guy....
Discounts on it I said, he just laughed....
The car did look better in the flesh, but with no side skirts and those gloss black wheels... No thanks
Inside was 100% better in build quality / finish.
After seeing it now I'm glad I've gone for the Audi 2.0T A4 Quattro S Tronic S Line.
And the discounts are far better....
My total list price was £33,200 but with discounts I've got it for £29,150.
So you could say I'm a HAPPY CHAPPY
This is what she'll look like when I collect it end of June.

I love the sales guys that do that, just say to them while walking away back into your car heading to another garage, "keep laughing..." Then when leaving the forecourt, give em a nice wave.
-
ive rang a few dealers and none of them are willing to give a discount, (im a cash buyer aswell) some in fact are coming across a bit cocky and arrogant .i speak nice to them, just ask the question,i don't insist on discount just because im a cash buyer but i wouldnt min a couple of free options tho. So does anyone know any vw dealers who give some discount ?

I bought mine from Verve in Glasgow and got nearly £2k off.

Goto dealdrivers.co.uk
Take your guranteed 10% from dealdrivers quote to your garage, if they dont match it or get very very close then walk away.
I hate arrogance too, generally its good to note who and what garage you were treated like that, then once you have your car give it time then go back to them, tell them how much you want a car, something nice and expensive, say you want to place an order, sit at their daft little table and computer then get up and leave, tell em to shuv it. Its amazing the satisfaction you can get.

Cheers vwkev. Have you ordered yours off them? If you have have they said how long before delivery? ive e-mailed them, Do they send you a quote through? so i can go to dealers with quote .Im saving £2491 with deal drivers for my spec. It just makes me sick that ive spent about 95k (cash) on 4 golf mk5's in 4 years (2 different dealers) and sold them on private and they won't even throw in a cheap option for free like a lux pack £115. To$$a'$
-
HOW MUCH ?!
-
1 gti 1 edition 30 2 r32's yes i know silly money but got some money back when sold, obviously lost money but i work hard. Proberly not lost as much as a heavy smoker in 4 years, thats the way i look at it, got to have some joy out of money
-
sorry just worked it out £91300 exactly only got good deal on last R32 and that was because they were discounted nationwide back in november
-
Fking hell !
-
Phewie, 90k! Thanks for making me feel a lot better about how much I've spent! :D

Not yet Carl, but I will be going through dealdrivers if my local dealer doesnt match.
Dealdrivers are not an internet broker, all you do is place your orde through them, and they contact the closest garage to you (which may still be a fair bit away depending on where you live) then the garage themselves contacts you and you buy it direct from the garage, you dont even give the broker any money and never deal with them again.
They dont send any quote, I'd just print off a list from their site of what you want and take it with you, that way they will see the prices themselves, and remember and tell your dealer that dealdrivers are not an internet broker.

got some more pics up

I wonder if the two tone black on the Monza wheels on that black GTI is an optional extra ?
The 18" Monza's on the Mk6 are two tone as standard. I assume it makes them different from the Monza 2 fitted to the Mk5...
I think they should be standard to be honest!!
-
Well i saw a silver 5 door the other day
Was not impressed.
Thought it looked very odd with the squashed front end and tourag rear. Identical side profile to the mk5 otherwise and the interior was near identical.
My DBP R32 looked miles better parked in front so im happy i didnt wait for the mk6 GTI
sounded loads better as i drove off with a lot more looks
-
Well I'm pretty much sorted on the MKVI, it drives so well, a lot more torque low down then the MKV GTI/ED30, interior is much nicer, really like the dials & stuff & it feels even better made than the MKV.
I think the DSG spoils it so have ditched that option, I'm sure that a lot of you will have strong opinions on that, but on the plus side I have saved over £1500.
So the final spec, 3 door, Carbon Grey, Leather, Monza Shadows, Lux & Winter packs, Xenon, RCD510, Park Assist.
Met with the dealer this morning & the fact that I have been a 'loyal customer' for so long & the frequency I change cars (Usually every year) they have discounted the price too :smug: :lipsrsealed:
So overall very pleased, just gotta wait until September when it arrives & I get to drive it

Congrats on your purchase.
I had originally selected the Park Assist but then dropped it. I'm not sure how long it would take to program when I'm parking etc, I though I'd be quicker just parking it myself, especially if your in a hurry or if there's someone waiting behind you etc.

Cheers, I went for the park assist on the basis that as we wanted park sensors anyway, what's another £150 when you're spending over £25K to get something a little gimmicky......probably never use it!
I did a price comparison on drivethedeal & its saving was only £487 off list on the same spec, I have smashed that so overall very pleased.

you should check dealdrivers shuuey, they are the cheapest around.

Think so, i have passed a few of the garages in Scotland in the last week and they all seem to be silver up here with standard lights. Infact they all have exactly the same spec too!!!
Did that one have cloth or leather interior? I have yet to see a cloth interior one.

Neil, verve has a black gti with not 1 extra on it, it has the cloth seats of course. I was very surprised at how good they were and now nice they were. Made me think twice about leather.

Yeah the leather looks really nice but in the web pics i really like the look of the tartan seats and the red stiching everywhere. If there was another colour for the leather apart from balck i might consider it more seriously but i just dont want it to look to dark, i ordered it in white for a reason!
But on a serious note as mine is not yet on the factory floor i could change my options if i really wanted. Think i have it all covered though.
-
yep think this white one was cloth interiored. red stitching did make it look a little special though.

Had a look round one at my local dealer yesterday. In typical vw salesman fashion they wouldn't give me the time of day because I look a bit of a hooligan. Saw the jaws drop as they watched me drive off in my R32..
-
i'd buy a mk6 GTI over a Scirocco GT any day having seen it in the flesh (and i own a Scirocco GT), just don't tick the ACC box as a waste of money, wouldn't trade in the GTI Pirelli for it though

Yep - I can concour with this experience (although I don't think I look like a hooligan ) - went to my local stealers to look at Mk5 GTI couple of years ago, wouldn't give me the time of day - I saw him looking when I went back over to get in my TT, my GTI came from ANOTHER garage!!
-
Like I've said elsewhere on here I love the shape of the Mark 6, more so than the Scirocco. However, because it's so steep I've been brutal with myself when coming to tick the options boxes. So mine is a carbon grey one with the 18 inch alloys (scandalous that I have to pay an extra £400 for these when the car is that much anyway), lux pack (that's only £130 or so) and cruise control (again, scandalous that it's not standard). Total £1100 or so.
Got a discount too so, yes, it's still expensive, but not quite the £26k upwards that others on here have been quoting. The cloth seats were very comfy anyway. Sat nav would be nice but is unjustifiable at £1200 or so. Never had xenons so will survive without those. I considered the 510 radio at £300 plus but ultimately it only gives me a colour touch scren and a CD autochanger which I don't need cos I can plug the iPod in anyway.
I can see why people go for the other extras but I would agree that at £26k plus you're well into Audi/BMW territory and no matter how much I like this GTi it's still only a VW.
