-
1.4 GTI
x2.....
-
x3
Err what?
-
-
i'm thinking GTI replica.......
except its got the wrong wheels :undecided:
looks tidy enough though
-
And the wrong spoiler.. and the wrong badge on the front!
-
Looks tidy and a nice stance
-
Got to say, thats a pretty good effort as far as replicas go (wrong wheels, spoiler and rear badge).
Id de-badge the back though as its a dead give away with the "Golf" badge being on there.
Nice non the less
-
Cheers man! thinking I want to get a 1.4 gti badge, got the gti interior done after some saving, what a mission, was alot of fun though! This is my first car and its caused alot of heartache, specially the turbo conversion but don't think i'd of had it anyother way!!! :O
Sorry guys not into the GTI wheels, be done to much.
-
Im sorry, turbo conversion !!?
-
I'm very confused
-
Yes, only problem gearbox redlining in 5th, need 6th. Any1 know what I could do/ what gearbox could i drop in it?
cheers.
-
You stuck a turbo to your 1.4 ? Im really confused lol
-
Yes, not sure why its so confusing though.. :undecided:
-
It sounds like a labour of love mission going on - Not the sort of thing I would have attempted but good effort none-the-less
It does beg the question tho - why did you not buy a GTI in the first case as it seems like the efforts you are putting in musta cost a lot!
-
Iv just never seen it done before is all lol
Waht turbo did you stick on? What sort of power has it got now then?

My thoguhts as well .. . .
-
It sounds like you must have spent at least enough cash to buy a GTi, even the insurance argument must fail if you declare all the extras you have (esp Turbo conversion) Car looks good, but i would personally just have saved for a GTi (and did in fact).
-
Im too young for a GTI, my insurance is through the rooooooof already, working at TIPTOP had to be done though, costs were pretty low due to my job, and the experience and knowledge of the team here helped alot!! lol.
all round sick first car  love the mk5 bra bra!!
-
What turbo have you put on your 1.4 lump and what BHP are you now looking at?
-
And is this just a shameless plug for

Fair enough, i can see why you would want to turbo it, i had a 1.4 when mine was in a recent service and it was so slow my girlfriend actually asked if it would help if she got out and pushed at one point, made me appreciate the GTi a lot when i got it back though
-
Surely the costs of declaring that its been turned into a rep/ suspension/ wheels turbo etc will rack the insurance up way more than a standard GTi anyway?
-
And is there not a stock 1.4 turbo / supercharger thing already?
All that said I admire the work you've put into it.
-

Im thinking it has not been. Modded cost much more than standard! When you also include the costs....
-
Have you got a better photo of your rear bumper? So that I can see the detail in the styling? It looks nice.

Ditto, personally I can't stands cars that are trying to be something there not, was like today there was some chap in a 5 series with a m5 body kit and all the badges and the rest of the branding looked genuine until I got a quick look at the size of the brakes and the only thing that came into my mind was numpty. Granted it looks a bloody good attempt but it's something I'd never dream of doing

this is the aged old debate and i totally disagree, its a project that wont be replicated, a 1.4 turbo'd engine of a vw golf! fair play to the lad i say and i reckon he would give you boys a run for your money around town in it :afro:

I'm sure it wont (be replicated) and I don't want to sound negative towards the chap in anyway, his money, his life and all that other jazz, but VW already do a turbo'd 1.4 with the addition of a charger in the TSI engines. Never the less I've said my piece I'll leave it at that

I like the wheels
I agree that the GOLF badge needs removing and you definitely need a rear spoiler to beef up the back end.
The exhaust system and the rear valance look great too.
What kind of power are you getting with the turbo conversion?
-
Turbo is an aftermarket, havent actually got it on rolling road yet, but with my custom manifold, and exhaust too (curtesy of tiptopperformance.co.uk ) hoping to catch a gti or twoo hahaha.. BUT not sure why some people making it sound sucha mission, maybe it is if you don't like playing with your car or arnt very hands on in the engine bay, but increasing my little 1.4s bhp for a small cost and abit of time & effort seems well worth it to me, all picking up useful knowledge.. what could be better?? :S
Really like the response though! Spoiler I never really thought about much.. but deffo a needed mod!
cheers lads

I can't see how this was a "small" cost. You appear to be in a lucky situation where this tip top company of yours have done the work for you. For the average joe to get all that work done to a 1.4 it would have cost a fair whack.

also surely it would have needed head work to alter the compression ratios and bits and bobs

you can buy them like that. it's the m sport pack spec'd when new.

With M5 badges on the tailgate and the blade things on the wings?

That has to be genuine m5 wings, the factory sport pack does not have them.
-
Sounds like a cool project, bet it was a bit of a mission. What did you do with the ECU? Also what have you used for an intercooler?
Get some pic's up, sound's very impressive, if not as the others have said a little mad!

This is either a hoax or a shameless plug for this company, as what fool would do this to their car.
also you will drastically put up your so called cheap 1.4 insurance doing these mods, but then I bet you haven't told your insurance company?
if you have fair play, but then you would need modified car insurance. if you haven't told them and you have an accident, your insurance will be instantly invalid and you will be personally liable.
food for thought.
-
Yes. Smells like shyte.
-
Give the guy a chance at least.
Pics of the engine bay would resolve if BS or not
-
I just read this all from start to finish lol and im
1 - confused
2 - thinking original poster is nuts
3 - interested all the same
4 - as mentioned already, I want pics of the engine bay as proof.
The craziest project ever. Even with added insurance costs and the premium for a GTI surely you are still having to spend more to do all this?
ps Fair play to you for what you have done but please dont badge it 1.4GTI, just de-badge it.
-
Clearly just a plug for tiptop
-

Not sure but don't think so.
-
I dont think it would and you can clearly see its a 1.4 by the odd mod missed here and there. As others have said, would love to see a picture of the engine bay.
-
standard car means normal car as opposed to a goods vehicle or minibus
-
this guy has gone quiet, wonder why???
-
He's probably over the moon about the fact that he's fooled a number of GTI Forum members that his 1.4 is a GTI!

Not a gti, its a 1.4 turbo. lol

I think it's a cute little thing :)

It would be nice to see an engine bay picture.

I thought that too
Reckon it looks great and kudos to you for putting the time, effort and money in! Would be a great sleeper if you keep the golf badge
