from TSR (i think) is ?279...
kit includes black diamond combo discs (285mm), pagid pads and spacers for the calipers.
supposidly the discs are specially made to be the correct offset. I was told normal G60 ones are the wrong offset...
What does everyone reckon. They are proven to imporve braking by 100% i.e. twice as good).
Im tempted but it is rather steep....
Cant live with the brakes like this much longer....

Can't personally recomend them but have have herd good comments. saw them at gti international very friendly and clued up !
-
thats is very similar and ?100 cheaper...
wonder if its the same? I think the difference might be in the discs... TSR said theres were specially made from black diamond.

Wot u plannin to do to the rear Rich? Drums or conversion?
Dinx :-*

erm... i think ill go for the upgrade and see how the car copes.
the issue with the rear convo is that someone said it might affect the braking balance. personally i think that would only play a part if both rear and front had same size discs (and ie. the same stopping power) . im pretty sure the setup is designed to have larger braking emphasis on the front... i.e. discs more powerful than drums, and therefore large discs on front to std 239mm on back shouldnt affect the balance too much.... (thats my theory anyway)
am tempted by the rear axle in the parts for sale, but not sure how much linking up would be. not a diy person, so it would have to be done by a garage...

if u use a brake bias valve u can concour the "light" backend syndrome!
-
If u use designa just keep ur wits about u and make sure u have wat u pay for and its a good job!

Have you spoken to C&R enterprises, they do upgrade kit - good price, but Steve there really knows if stuff and will explain how to do the upgrade as well even for the rear upgrade, he explained it to me today - I recorded it and will be trying it out later next month.
-
I had C&R do a brake upgrade on my cab last year. The service was good, and the result was great. The discs warped quite quickly though, however this is not a fault of C&R but possibly my braking or a bad set of discs.
-
adam how much did you pay- what was included and what size discs are they?
When people said the mk1s brakes werent very effective, they were right.
and golfgal what u mean check everything?

I would have to look up the receipt to see the see the cost. But it is 256mm black diamond discs, mk2 calipers and carriers, and predator pads.
I also had braided hoses put on too.

Quite funny you said that Adam, as I was speaking to steve today from C&R about your cab and he remembered the car...
Adam did you have the rear converted to disc's?

Ads u find the cost?

Missed this post for a while.
Sorry Dinx still not found the cost, but I remember it not being cheap, as I had the black diamond discs and predator pads put on. I will try to dig it out sometime soon - promise!
I'm amazed he remembers it so well, it had the 17" wheels on at the time, I think. I did think about the rear conversion, but as it was just for cosmetics, and its not that noticeable with the 14's on, I didnt bother.
