Title: Engine Conversions (DesignaDubs)
Post by: jazzygm on 06 August 2004, 17:29
Not actually looking to do a conversion I have to admit, I just want to drop a brand new shiney KR engine in my golf  ;)  depending on what it comes with that is... so does anyone know?

Closest to me that specialise in this sort of thing is designadubs, do you get gearbox/clutch/head/accessories like cold start valves, distributor, alternator etc all included in the price? (They are quoting around ?1450+VAT on their website)

Any advise appreciated!

Anywhere at all nearer to London?

I dont want to giv my 16v to another mechanic who "claims" that he knows Golfs inside out.

I can not, for the life of me, find a proper Golf specialist in or near London.  All places I hear of are hours away...

Thanks Gav, I think I might be contacting them soon, hope their prices are ok, even if it is still about 2hours away (from n.London). Nice1.

I would still like to know of golf specialists north london, Herts, enfield, even central London.  There must be

Have you tried VDubs in Hammersmith?
Just a small place but done plenty of good to my Mk2.
Only thing is I havent been there for a while so I cant be sure theyre still around.
Try 0208 740 1261.
Dan.

Their prices are good mate. I used them instead of jabbasport and saved a few quid, work was excellent quality. If you have to drive down and leave your car (i did from Crystal Palace) they drove me to the station and came to collect me when I came back...in their mental mini cooper

their website says they do restorations, do you know if this includes body work. im starting to worry mines rusting away as i drive (serious amounts of rust in the boot under the lights, plus around offside rear window and noticed a very small hole by the filler cap as well as a hole in the floor pan  :'( )

can't decide whether to sell it on and begin the hunt for the fabled mint mk2 black valver  8) again or stick with and stump up the cash to get it sorted  :-\
